JOB PURPOSE ____

Serves as a resource in a relevant professional discipline; works independently on projects of minor to moderate complexity; exercises independent judgment and discretion within established broad guidelines.____

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ____

__1. __Supports SMUD’s strategic information technology goals and direction by serving as a technical lead on application database projects; designs, develops, implements and maintains the database systems.____

__3. __Maintains and operates systems; monitors and troubleshoots moderately complex problems using established processes and methods.____

__5. __Assists in planning, reviewing and conducting work activities and researching required project information associated with department internal/external projects in accordance with established task objectives and schedule as outlined in the project plan/contract.____

Mandatory Requirements ____

__2. __Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in the design, development, implementation, maintenance and support of application databases utilizing Microsoft Windows Server Clusters.____

__· __Principals and concepts of relational and network data base management.____

__· __Principals and concepts of data management; operating concepts for multi-user, multitasking operating systems.____

__· __Methods and techniques of data access.____

__· __Techniques and practices for resolving complex technical issues.____

__· __Methods and techniques for planning, organizing and overseeing work activities.____

__· __Methods and techniques for training staff.____

__· __Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.____

__· __Plan, develop and implement automated solutions for business functions ____

__· __Plan the installation of new releases of database software ____

__· __Ensure the integrity of all physical database objects ____

__· __Create storage groups, databases, tables and views ____
