What Otto actually does with your CV
No dashboard to learn, no filters to tune. You upload a CV once; the work that used to eat your evenings happens without you.
1 · It reads your CV properly
PDF, Word, or a photo of a printed copy — a scanned page with no text layer gets read by an OCR model rather than rejected. What comes out is structured: your titles, your skills, your seniority, where you are. Not a keyword bag.
2 · It searches 685,153 live openings by meaning, not keywords
Your CV becomes a vector, and so has every posting. That is how a CV saying "growth lead" finds a role advertised as "demand generation manager" — a keyword search never will. A cross-encoder then re-reads the shortlist against your CV and cuts it to the strongest handful.
3 · A model reads the actual job descriptions
The last step reads the full text of the finalists, not the metadata. Extracted fields lie — a posting tagged mid-level turns out to want ten years, a "remote" role turns out to require living in-country. Reading the description catches what the tags hide, and produces the one-line reason you see next to each match.
4 · It checks the job is still open
Postings mostly die quietly. An expired SmartRecruiters page still returns a perfectly healthy 200; Greenhouse redirects to the board index. So before a role is shown to you, Otto asks the employer's own system whether it is still accepting applications, and drops it if not. This is the step nobody else does, and it is why the shortlist is short.
5 · It fills in the application
A real browser opens the real form and completes it: your details, your CV attached, the screening questions answered from what is actually in your CV.
What it will not do: invent anything. If an honest answer needs a fact you never gave it — visa status, salary expectation, a start date, a reference — it stops and hands the application back to you rather than guessing. It never answers demographic questions on your behalf. It never tries to defeat a CAPTCHA. Those come back with the link and the reason.
