As a veterinary assistant, you’ll work alongside our doctors, technicians, and support team to provide hands-on care while helping the hospital run efficiently. Your day as a veterinary assistant may include:
- Safely restraining and handling patients for examinations and procedures
- Triaging incoming patients and obtaining accurate medical histories
- Collecting, processing, and analyzing laboratory samples
- Assisting with diagnostic imaging, including digital radiology
- Providing nursing care and monitoring hospitalized patients with varying levels of stability
- Administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinary team
- Communicating treatment plans and recommendations to clients
- Preparing patients for surgery and assisting during procedures
- Supporting anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
- Maintaining clean, organized treatment and patient care areas
We’re looking for a veterinary assistant who is:
- Experienced in a veterinary setting; 1+ year of veterinary assistant experience is preferred
- Comfortable properly restraining and handling pets
- Compassionate, calm, dependable, and able to multitask
- A strong communicator and collaborative team player
- A self-starter who is eager to continue learning
- Comfortable in a fast-paced veterinary environment
- Experienced with sample collection, medical histories, laboratory testing, radiographs, or anesthesia monitoring is a plus
This role involves working closely with animals and may include exposure to unpleasant odors and noises, animal waste, bites, scratches, and potentially contagious diseases.
