Senior Backend Engineer - Bengaluru

We’re looking for a backend builder who owns problems end-to-end, thinks from first principles, builds lean and scalable systems, and moves across boundaries when the product needs it.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of software engineering experience with strong backend fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Production experience with Spring/Spring Boot or[Node.js](http://Node.js).
• Comfortable working across Java/Spring and [Node.js](http://Node.js) when required.
• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems and production-grade system design.
• Experience with SQL databases, including schema design, indexing and query optimisation.
• Good understanding of NoSQL concepts such as partitioning, consistency, access patterns and data modelling.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform — AWS, GCP or equivalent.
• Ability to reason about scalability, reliability, performance, maintainability and cost.
• Strong engineering judgement and willingness to use AI effectively while validating its output.

Responsibilities

• Own backend problems from idea and design through production.
• Build simple, maintainable and scalable backend architecture.
• Design and evolve distributed systems, service boundaries and communication patterns.
• Make deliberate decisions around microservices, tenancy, data isolation, partitioning and access patterns.
• Own backend performance through query optimisation, API performance, caching and concurrency.
• Design systems for scalability, extensibility, reliability and maintainability without over-engineering.
• Think beyond tickets by understanding product outcomes and challenging solutions when needed.
• Optimise infrastructure and engineering costs.
• Ship, measure and iterate with pace.
• Collaborate across backend, frontend, infrastructure, product and other teams when required.
• Use AI for exploration, coding, debugging, testing and review while owning engineering decisions.
