Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer with experience in embedded C/C++, firmware, board bring-up, hardware/software integration, and processor-level software development to help build the software foundation for safety-critical embedded platforms.
In this role, you'll work with software, hardware, FPGA, ASIC, and systems engineering teams to develop low-level software, enable new hardware platforms, and deliver reliable real-time embedded solutions.
Location: This position is located in Endicott, NY with a hybrid work schedule available
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software using C, C++, and Assembly.
- Develop low-level software including board support packages (BSPs), boot code, device drivers, and processor initialization.
- Support new hardware bring-up, board initialization, and hardware/software integration.
- Integrate software with FPGA, ASIC, and System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms.
- Develop and support embedded communication interfaces including PCIe, TSN, AFDX, and other real-time protocols.
- Debug embedded software using ARM DS IDE, DSTREAM, and hardware debugging tools.
- Develop automation and debugging tools using Python.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, FPGA, and verification engineers throughout development.
- Participate in software architecture, design reviews, testing, and technical documentation.
- Help improve embedded software quality, automation, and engineering processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM discipline.
- 4+ years of experience developing embedded software or firmware.
- Strong programming experience with Embedded C and C++.
- Experience developing low-level embedded software, firmware, or platform software.
- Experience with board bring-up, hardware initialization, or hardware/software integration.
- Experience working with ARM processors, SoCs, or similar embedded platforms.
- Experience interfacing with FPGA, ASIC, or custom hardware.
- Experience debugging embedded systems using hardware debugging tools.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
