Hiring Range - $33.50 - 36.50\hour

_Registered Dental Hygienist General Description_

The Registered Dental Hygienist delivers a full range of oral hygiene services and education to patients including providing preventative and therapeutic care, cleaning teeth, examining the patient for signs of oral diseases, and educating patients on proper hygiene. This position is also eligible to apply for student loan repayment through the National Health Service Corp.

_Registered Dental Hygienist Essential Duties_

1. Preventative and rehabilitative caries control and periodontal services:

1. Routine prophylaxis and topical application;

2. Scale supra and sub-gingival tooth surfaces;

3. Scale and Root Planning;

4. Properly expose, scan, and mount oral radiographs;

5. May use local anesthetic for procedures as needed, if licensed;

6. Use safety precautions to protect patient and self.

2. Charting:

1. Existing caries and restorations, missing teeth and prostheses;

2. Complete perio charting;

3. Complete head and neck exam, including soft tissue pathology.

3. Education:

1. Educate patients on oral health maintenance and prevention (brushing, flossing, plaque control, diet, etc.);

2. Benefit of fluoride;

3. Educate patients on what their treatment plan means.

4. If the RDH has an Extended Care Permit (I, II, or III), he/she may perform allowed services under the supervision of a clinic dentist and/or may coordinate ECP scheduling and administration as needed.

5. Actively participate in all appropriate clinic-wide quality assurance program initiatives, including but not limited to chart audits, clinical quality measures, and patient satisfaction metrics.

6. Attend meetings as required (Joint Staff, Department, etc.).

7. Rotate to Medical Clinic for Medical/Dental integration.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.

_Registered Dental Hygienist Skills Required_

1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public.

2. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.

3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

4. Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and prioritize workload.

5. Ability to anticipate and react calmly in an emergency is a must.

6. Ability to follow written policies and procedures.

7. Ability to work independently and use good judgment.

_Registered Dental Hygienist Education and Experience_

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required;

2. Graduation from a certified RDH program;

3. Current Kansas RDH License;

4. Prefer at least one year experience;

5. Must have and maintain CPR certification;

6. Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse participant- and employee-base.
