Prep Cook and Line Cook

The Empire State Group is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Prep/Line Cook to join our culinary team at the Empire State Jazz Café. The Prep/Line Cook will directly contribute to the smooth running of the kitchen by assisting cooks, chefs, and other kitchen staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in food preparation of various dishes: cut, chop and slice and measure ingredients
• Organizing food storage and inventory
• Follow established recipes and dietary guidelines
• Assist with special events and catering services
• Ensure exceptional presentation by checking/dressing dishes before they are served
• Showcase superior dexterity skills to operate kitchen equipment and tools quickly and safely
• Set up and maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Ensure all food meets quality standards before being served
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely food production

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrate passion for cooking and preparing high quality foods
• Have knowledge of basic culinary techniques
• Experience in food handling and preparation
• Familiarity with various cooking techniques, ingredients, kitchen equipment and presentation skills
• Understanding of food safety practices
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Previous experience in catering or the food industry is a plus

• Ability to stand for long periods of time and able to bend to lift heavy objects
• Works well under pressure and maintains a professional attitude
• Consistent in dish preparation, timeliness, and attitude
• Works quickly with few errors
