Huntr - What You Should Know
A job search tracker and AI resume builder, with a Chrome extension that saves jobs and autofills application forms, and AI tailoring, cover letters and resume reviews on its Pro plan.
The short version
Huntr is a well-built job tracker and resume builder, with free autofill on thousands of sites. It does not find roles for you or submit applications. Otto does both, so the two fit together: keep your pipeline and polish your resume in Huntr, and hand the applying to Otto.
The difference that matters most
Huntr: Does not submit. Its Chrome extension fills in the form in one click and you finish the application yourself; its FAQ describes this as helping you "automatically apply to jobs by auto-filling job applications for you".
Otto: searches 1M live openings from your CV, re-checks your matches are still accepting applications, and fills in and submits the form itself. It will not make up facts only you know, such as ID numbers, dates, salary or visa status; it leaves those blank and asks you.

Who Huntr is for
“Huntr fits applicants managing many job applications at once.”
huntr.co/blog/huntr-vs-teal
Otto is for people who would rather hand over the applying: upload a CV once, and Otto finds the roles that fit, sends the applications, and brings the replies back to one inbox.
What Huntr does well
- A purpose-built job tracker: a Kanban board, contacts, interview dates, notes, a map view and search metrics, free for up to 100 jobs
- Free, unlimited autofill from a Chrome extension that works on LinkedIn, Indeed and employers' own sites, and saves each job as you apply
- A resume builder with AI tailoring that explains every suggested change, plus resume reviews and cover letters
If the list above describes what you need, use Huntr. A comparison page that cannot name a competitor's strengths is an advert.
Where Otto differs
- Huntr organises the search you run and speeds up each form; you still find the role and finish the application. Otto finds roles from your CV and submits the application itself, on every plan, Free included.
- Huntr's paid plan is Pro at $40 a month, with no free trial. Otto's paid plans are $12.99, $29.99 and $49.99 a month, each starting with 3 days free.
- Huntr's free plan tracks up to 100 jobs. Otto's Free plan sends one application a day, with no end date and no card.
- Huntr's tracker is the more complete record of a search you run by hand. Using both is reasonable: a resume built and tailored in Huntr is a good CV to hand Otto.
What Otto does
Search 1M live jobs
Openings come straight from employers' own hiring systems, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters and more. Filter by country, city, date posted, job type and remote, and see each one ranked against your CV.
Auto apply
Press Apply and Otto fills in and submits the employer's own form. When a form asks something only you can answer, it asks you once and remembers the answer for next time. Every plan, Free included.
Autopilot
On Max, Otto finds new matches every night and applies to them while you sleep. The morning email lists every application, and you can switch it off any time.
Resume tailoring
On Pro and Max, Otto writes a one-page CV for each job, reordering what you have done to fit the posting. Every employer, title, date and number is checked against your CV, and a draft that claims more is thrown away.
Apply with a link
Found a job somewhere else? Paste the link and Otto reads the posting and applies, even on hiring systems it does not already track.
A dedicated inbox
Every plan gets its own job-search email address. Replies and interview invites land in Otto, sorted by application, and Otto enters verification codes for you.
Inside Claude, ChatGPT and Grok
Connect Otto to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok and ask for jobs in your own words: it searches, ranks them against your CV, and applies to the ones you confirm. In ChatGPT, Otto Roles is in the plugin directory.
