Remote · Full-time · US hours overlap
We are hiring on behalf of a US solar company.
Before a single panel goes on a roof, a US building department has to approve the plans. Thousands of jurisdictions, each with its own checklist, portal, and plan checker who will reject you over a setback. You'll be the person who knows how to get through them.
What you'll do
- Research AHJ requirements: submittal checklists, fees, portals, plan set standards, fire setbacks
- Assemble and submit permit packages through building department portals, SolarAPP+, and Symbium
- Coordinate with design/CAD on plan sets and with engineers on structural and stamped letters
- Handle plan check corrections and resubmittals until the permit is issued
- Schedule inspections, track outcomes, and turn around failed-inspection corrections quickly
- Own permit fees, expirations, and revisions across the pipeline
- Build and maintain the AHJ requirements database
What we're looking for
- 1–3 years in US solar permitting, submitting to AHJs directly
- Working knowledge of NEC (2017/2020/2023), IRC/IBC, and PV fire setback requirements
- Ability to read a plan set and anticipate what a plan checker will flag
- Written and spoken English sufficient for calls with permit technicians
- Availability that overlaps meaningfully with US business hours
Bonus points
- Depth in a specific state (California, Texas, Florida, Arizona)
- SolarAPP+ automated permitting
- Aurora, OpenSolar, or basic AutoCAD literacy
What's offered
- $2,000–2,300 gross per month
- 20 days of vacation + religious holidays
- Fully remote, long-term engagement
- A role where speed and precision show up directly in the numbers
