Title: Hillcrest Accessory Volunteer

Key Responsibilities

· Promote and support the mission of Hillcrest Transitional Housing in our interactions with shoppers, donors, staff, and other volunteers.

· Sort, price, tag, and merchandise accessories, such as shoes, purses, ties, belts, etc., as instructed by management.

· Maintain a clean and orderly sales floor and processing area.

Initial Impact

· Customers, donors, and volunteers receive care and hospitality from a helpful staff of volunteers.

· Funding is provided for Hillcrest Transitional Housing programs, benefitting those in need.

· Quality merchandise is available at greatly discounted pricing.

Sustained Outcome

· Financial and material support is provided for Hillcrest Transitional Housing in moving individuals, youth, and families from homelessness to self-sufficiency, as well as diverting unsellable donations from our landfills.

Training & Support

· New Volunteer Orientation

· Initial training with a volunteer buddy or staff member on accessory handling, sorting, pricing, and merchandising.

· Ongoing support from site management staff regarding policies and procedures

Commitment

· To be considered a recurring Hillcrest volunteer, you must commit to a minimum weekly shift of three hours.

· Available shifts include.

Mon-Fri 10 am to 1 pm - Mon-Fri 1 pm to 4 pm – Mon-Fri 4 pm to 7 pm.

Sat 10 am to 1 pm - Sat 1 pm to 4 pm

Qualifications/ Skills

· This role requires the volunteer to have compassion and respect for all people, including donors, shoppers, clients, residents, staff, and other volunteers.

· Ability to follow Hillcrest quality, pricing, and merchandising guidelines.

· Provide superior customer service to shoppers when on the sales floor.

· Ability to lift totes and product in sorting/processing areas and stand/walk for long periods of time.
