Senior Compliance Officer — E-Money & Payments
Paybis is looking for a senior regulatory compliance specialist to own live EMI and payment-institution authorisation work across Latvia and the UK.
This is not an operational KYC or transaction-monitoring role. You will personally draft regulator-facing materials, respond to regulatory questions and build the governance and safeguarding framework behind regulated payment products.
What you will own
- The Latvian EMI application and the UK authorised EMI workstream with the FCA.
- Post-authorisation implementation of Paybis' Latvian Payment Institution licence.
- Programmes of operations, governance and internal-control narratives.
- Safeguarding methodology, account structure, segregation, reconciliation evidence and breach handling.
- Own-funds, initial-capital and wind-down documentation.
- Regulatory assessment of payment products, payment-flow changes, agents, distributors and outsourcing arrangements.
- Responses to regulatory RFIs, document maps, evidence rooms and verified closure of regulatory commitments.
- Audit and inspection readiness for the payments perimeter.
What we are looking for
- At least five years of regulatory compliance experience, including significant experience inside an authorised EMI, payment institution, bank or comparable regulated payments business.
- Hands-on EMI/PI authorisation experience in the UK, EU or another comparable regulatory regime.
- Experience taking an authorisation through submission and regulator review.
- Personal authorship of substantive regulator-facing application materials, governance documents, safeguarding methodology or wind-down plans.
- Ability to explain how safeguarding works in practice: method, segregation, reconciliation evidence, breach handling and audit readiness.
- Ability to navigate primary legislation and regulatory guidance independently.
- Strong professional English and concise written drafting.
Operational KYC, CDD or transaction-monitoring experience alone is not sufficient. CAMS, ICA or similar certifications are welcome, but drafting quality and authorisation experience matter more.
Why join Paybis
- Own live EMI and PI programmes rather than support an operational case queue.
- Build the regulatory architecture that enables new permissions, payment products and market access.
- See your policies and controls translated directly into business and product decisions.
- Work directly with Compliance, Legal, Product, Finance, Risk and Operations.
- Take broad ownership without automatically carrying statutory MLRO responsibility.
Working model
- Location: approved European engagement locations; remote or hybrid.
- Working hours: at least four hours of overlap with the European working day.
- Travel: occasional trips to Riga.
- Contract: long-term B2B, or employment where legally and operationally available.
- Compensation: EUR3,000–EUR4,000 gross per month.
- Start: as soon as possible.
