Technical Installer – Smart Home, AV & Networking Systems

A specialist technology integration company is seeking an experienced Technical Installer to join their Johannesburg installation team. The role involves installing, configuring, and supporting integrated smart home systems, home cinema solutions, audio‑visual equipment, networking infrastructure, and low‑voltage technologies within high‑end residential environments.

This is not an entry‑level role. The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on installation experience, solid electronics knowledge, and the ability to work professionally in luxury residential properties.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and configure smart home, AV, networking, and low‑voltage systems.

• Perform structured cabling, cable termination, and fault‑finding.

• Install equipment racks and ensure professional cable management.

• Set up audio‑visual systems, multi‑room audio/video, and home cinema components.

• Install and configure IP‑based devices including routers, switches, Wi‑Fi systems, CCTV, and access control.

• Read and interpret technical drawings and installation plans.

• Troubleshoot system issues and perform on‑site problem‑solving.

• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, designers, and project teams.

• Maintain high standards of workmanship, neatness, and respect for client property.

• For senior candidates: supervise junior technicians and manage installation sites.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Valid South African driver’s licence (non‑negotiable).

• N6 Electronics or equivalent technical qualification.

• Proven hands‑on installation experience.

• Strong understanding of electronics and low‑voltage systems.

• Structured cabling and termination experience.

• Good networking knowledge (routers, switches, Wi‑Fi, IP devices).

• Ability to use tools correctly and work confidently on installation sites.

• Ability to read technical drawings and plans.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.

• Professional communication and presentation.

• Reliable, punctual, and team‑oriented.

Highly Advantageous Experience

• Smart home / home automation systems.

• Home cinema installation (AV receivers, amplifiers, projectors, screens, speakers).

• Rack building and cable management.

• Multi‑room audio/video systems.

• CCTV installation and configuration.

• Lighting control and access control systems.

• System commissioning and advanced fault‑finding.

• Supervising technicians or running installation sites.
