Cloud Solution Architect (Azure/ AWS)

Job Scope

• Design end-to-end cloud solution architectures that address business, functional and non-functional requirements, with a strong focus on scalability, availability, performance, security, maintainability and cost optimisation.
• Lead the architecture and technical design of digital transformation and application modernisation projects, covering cloud infrastructure, applications, integration, data, security and DevSecOps.
• Provide technical leadership to project delivery teams, working closely with developers, DevOps engineers, data engineers, security teams and other technical specialists throughout the solution delivery lifecycle.
• Translate business and technical requirements into practical solution architectures, technical designs, architecture diagrams and implementation approaches.
• Design solutions using cloud-native and modern application architecture patterns, including microservices, containers, Kubernetes, serverless, APIs, event-driven architecture and managed cloud services.
• Design and advise on cloud landing zones, networking, identity and access management, security, observability, high availability, disaster recovery and infrastructure automation.
• Evaluate and select appropriate cloud services, technologies, frameworks and tools based on solution requirements, constraints, security requirements and total cost of ownership.
• Provide architecture governance and technical guidance during implementation, including design reviews, troubleshooting complex technical issues and ensuring the delivered solution remains aligned with the approved architecture.
• Work closely with clients and stakeholders to communicate architecture decisions, technical trade-offs, risks and recommendations.
• Identify technical and delivery risks early and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Support pre-sales and solutioning activities, including solution architecture, technical proposals, effort estimation, technology evaluation and client presentations where required.
• Design and advise on solutions incorporating AI/ML and Generative AI capabilities, including integration with enterprise applications, data platforms, APIs and cloud-native AI services.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant technology experience, with strong experience in solution architecture, cloud architecture and delivery of enterprise-scale digital solutions.
• Strong hands-on architecture experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience across multiple cloud platforms will be advantageous.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering end-to-end cloud solutions, including compute, storage, networking, security, identity, integration, databases, monitoring and application services.
• Proven experience in leading technical delivery teams for digital transformation, cloud migration, application modernisation or cloud-native application development projects.
• Strong understanding of modern application architecture and engineering practices, including microservices, containers/Kubernetes, serverless, APIs, event-driven architecture, messaging and integration technologies.
• Good understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and cloud operations.
• Strong understanding of cloud security architecture, including IAM, network security, encryption, secrets management, security monitoring and Zero Trust principles.
• Familiarity with data, analytics, AI/ML and Generative AI technologies, including practical understanding of how AI capabilities such as LLMs, RAG, AI agents and cloud AI services can be integrated into enterprise solutions.
• Experience with technologies and platforms such as Kafka, AMQP, API management, relational/NoSQL databases, Kubernetes, Terraform and modern CI/CD platforms will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of architecture principles, design patterns, non-functional requirements and architectural trade-offs.
• Ability to move between high-level architecture and implementation-level technical discussions, and provide practical guidance to engineering teams.
• Strong analytical, logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience in one or more industry sectors such as Public Sector, Healthcare or Financial Services will be advantageous.
• Prior experience with Singapore Government projects, Government Commercial Cloud (GCC/GCC+) and related technology/security requirements will be a strong advantage.
• Relevant cloud architecture certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Google Professional Cloud Architect will be advantageous.
